Cinemas and Movies

Most Ghanaian cinemas are open air and somewhat uncomfortable considering the climate. However, the Alliance Française and the Goethe Institut have film viewings on occasion and the multi screen cinema at the Accra Mall shows recent films 7 days a week. There are plenty of DVD rental shops around Accra that carry the newest releases, albeit in pirated form and uncertain quality most of the time. Multiregional DVD players are a good idea since, although most DVDs for rent are NTSC, there is the occasional PAL DVD outlet and indeed it increases the ability to borrow from your friends or colleagues!
